SliceWorx Filament Welder Connector Clamp for 1.75 FDM filament

SliceWorx Filament Welder Connector Clamp for 1.75 FDM filament

Do you have spare filament in rolls that are not enough for one large print and you rather not throw it out with the spool ? Do you want a cheap DIY solution for your leftover filaments ? Do you want to create multicolor prints with segments of filament ?

This tool kit is your answer !

The Filament Welder kit is a lightweigh DIY solution to join two filaments and then confirm the diameter using the metal body as a compression tool.

How to use this welder?

  1.  Make sure you are an adult (LOL!) or performing the following steps under adult supervision when welding filament.
  2. Assemble the parts as shown in picture 1 (it will come preassembled in package so you can leave this step out if welding the first time ! )
  3. Cut filament ends at 90 degree (perpendicular to length) and insert each filament from one side.
  4. Make sure the filament ends meet in the center and have flush contact with each other.
  5. Using a BIC lighter or safety lighter flame heat up the filament ends and immediately press the filaments together
  6. Once the filament is welded and still soft from the heat make it pass through multiple times through the nylon insert to give it compression so it confirms diametrically to 1.75 mm.
  7. Open the two screws with the allen key and remove the joined filament from the clamp.

Note:This takes a little bit of practice to get it right since flame melting or softening can cause excessive PLA burn and fail the weld. We recommend to try this process with small segments of spare filament before welding complete rolls of filament.

Package includes:

1PC * Filament Connector

1PC* Allen Key

Please note : Package does not include a safety lighter needed for heating up the filament ends.
